A collar is the wrong thing to walk a cat on — they back out of it in seconds. A vest-style harness spreads the pressure across the chest and shoulders and is far harder to reverse out of, which is what makes garden and balcony time workable. Works equally well for puppies and toy breeds.

Please Note

• Measure your cat’s chest just behind the front legs and check the size chart before ordering.
• Let your cat wear the harness indoors for short sessions over several days before going outside. Most cats need time to accept it.
• Fit it snugly — two fingers under the straps and no more. A loose harness is the main reason cats escape.
• No harness is fully escape-proof. Never tether your cat and leave them unattended, and stay with them the whole time they are outside.
• Check the buckles and stitching regularly and replace the harness if anything is worn.
